Photoshop

These are pictures that we photoshopped. In the first one we attached a frog to a tongue and in the second one we took a zebra, basically cut off the skin, and attached it to the rhino.
In this project we were supposed to put together a photoshopped picture where it looks like something bad is about to happen. In this picture I tried to make it so that it looks like the girl is about to kick the soccerball and break a window. I couldn't get the girl's shadow exactly right so it looks a little weird. I really like photoshopping though because you can kind of play God and make something out of nothing.

Ceramics

For this project we basically had to take a chunk of clay and make a bowl out of it. We flattened the clay using a slab roller then cut out a design for the edges of the bowl. I used red slip to make the petals of the flower and a toothpick to make the lines in the petals. I didn't really know how to work with the bottom of the bowl, so I kind of just left it how it was. After they came out of the kiln, we put glaze on them to make them look smooth and shiny. Overall I liked how my bowl turned out!

Pastels

This is my pastel still life drawing. I didn't really like working with pastels, and I don't think it turned out very well either. The most difficult part about this project was trying to add in highlights and shadows, and trying to blend the colors.

Forced Perspective

I really enjoyed this project and some of the pictures actually turned out kind of cool! The most difficult part of this project was probably having to yell to the person posing and telling them how he or she should pose.

Light Drawing

In this project we used glowsticks to create pictures and words. We set the camera to take a picture over several seconds so that it could capture all the light. I thought these turned out really well!

Monsters

I thought this project was kind of challenging. Molding the monster wasn't that hard, but trying to paint it was really hard to do. Overall, I don't think my monster turned out as well as I thought it would.

Perspective

I like the concept of perspective drawing, but I'm just not too good at it. We attempted two-point perspective by choosing a cut out picture and drawing the rest. To do a two-point perspective drawing you would start out by drawing a straight line across the page and putting two points on the ends (vanishing points). Every single line in this picture is either horizontal, vertical, or heading towards the vanishing points.
In my opinion, this drawing by far is the best two-point perspective drawing in the class. The drawing really looks like it could be the rest of the house!

1,656 skittles later...

After buying bags and bags of skittles I finally finished! I would say that the hardest part about this project was trying to count the pixels on the actual picture and trying to find out what colors to glue down. It took exactly 1,656 skittles to make the finished product and I really love how it turned out!

Skittling!

So this is by far my favorite project yet. We took pictures of ourselves, made them skittle colors and pixely, and now we're making our faces out of skittles! It's really time-consuming, but I think it's really fun anyway. At first I couldn't tell that it was my face, but once I saw a picture of it I started to recognize it! It takes a lot of skittles though. I've already gone through a bag and I'm almost done with one of those huge 54-ounce bags! But I get to eat most of the green ones since I'm not using that color, so it's okay.

The only bad part about this project is sometimes the skittles get unglued or they don't line up exactly the way you want them to.

Overall, I really like this project and how it's turning out!

Shadow Art

These are pictures of our shadow art of "space." We had to put together different things so that their shadows looked like real things. The rocket in the center was made using some sort of plastic object, a spoon, and to cups taped to the bottom. We also cut out a picture of fire and taped it to the bottom of the rocket, but it's difficult to see with the background. The moon in the top right corner was made from a tinfoil pie plate with holes cut out of it. The stars we just cut out of paper. Overall I thought this project was pretty successful. We were going to add a shooting star at the top made with a curly string of paper to represent its path and cut a star out of paper, but it didn't look too good and its shadow was very difficult to see.

Value Portraits

We finished up doing these value portraits yesterday. At first I didn't know how well this was going to turn out, but I think I did a lot better than I thought I was going to do. If I was to do this project over again, I wouldn't have traced over the shapes so hard. I made that mistake at the beginning and when I tried erasing, the lines were still visible. The most difficult part of this project was at the very beginning when we first started. We were supposed to find all the shapes of different shadings/highlights and trace over them on tracing paper. I learned a couple things from this project: drawing a mouth is not an easy task, and drawings of people look a lot more realistic when there is value and shading involved.

Masking Tape Mural

This is a picture of our masking tape mural. The theme was "the future." The symbols represent graduation, a career, marriage, getting a house, and earning money. I contributed to this mural by making the briefcase and helping out with the graduation cap and the lines on one of the hills. I think the most difficult part of this project was figuring out what symbols to use. Overall, I thought this project was fun and it turned out really well!
